Abstract
To be able to nurse the personnel who are on routine duty in water and in hyperbaric environment or who need hyperbaric oxygen therapy, we should have thorough understanding in the anatomical?physiological theory of human body, and in the physics theory related to hyperbaric environment. Over the fundamental theory, acquaintance of decompression theory and the basics of Decompression sickness(DCS) will be compulsory. Currently, civil organizations are difficult to be in a leading position in the diving medicine. So the Navy is in charge of domestic diving medicine field. Specially, Maritime Medical Center has been treated for decompression patient since 1979. Also this facility has done steadily research, education for diving medicine and has produced, trained of diving medical affairs personnel. Therefore, this study was intended to produce the manual for the hyperbaric nursing personnel. The content covers types of dive, diving physics, diving environment with diving physiology, and diving management, which includes diver¡¯s medical examination, decompression theory, and decompression sickness. That also covers the parts for hyperbaric nursing personnel and those are; requisite items for the diving medicine facility; nursing diagnosis and nursing intervention in hyperbaric oxygen therapy; nursing record; and hyperbaric nursing regulations for the last. We wish the substance of current research will be supportive aid to hyperbaric nursing officers, diving medical technicians including enlisted personnel, those who have interest in the field, and all who are practicing the diving medical affairs in civilian.
